Chicago Sounds: Greening the Heartland

Project Description:

Chicago Sounds: Greening the Heartland is an audio project commissioned by the Greening the Heartland Conference (2005) in conjunction with the Green Map Project at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. With a directive on how we might develop an understanding of “green-ness”, with a particular emphasis on urban sound scape, a sound environment was produced and presented along with a public display of the Chicago Green Maps at the 2005 Conference-attended by planning professionals from de- signers, architects, urban planners, and contractors. Secondarily, a curriculum was developed to be used as a guide for future students involved in the local Green Map Project at the school.
